The Children’s Museum Verona is composed of a main area with experiential activities, the Museum area itself, and a laboratory area, the Thinklab. The two areas are developed for over 1000 square meters and are designed to interact with the adult and the child with the different facilities.

The CMV is a museum for children from 0 to 12 years whose goal is to learn while having fun through interactive and direct experiences in an informal environment, where even adults are involved. The museum consists of the ThinkLab – the interactive educational laboratory – and the Interactive Area – the Museum area itself.
It is a highly interactive laboratory for schools, families and companies in which didactic activities are coordinated by an Explainer and workshops are organized. In this space, scientific, creative and manual skills reign: carpentry, mechanics, creative writing, robotics, coding, and much more!
Our ThinkLab is inspired by the Tinkering of the Exploratorium of San Francisco: starting from an assumption, we reach its understanding through practical experimentation.
A simple staircase with a bit of curiosity, a handful of imagination and a bit of vision can turn into a piano! This is the entrance staircase to the museum which introduces the visitor into a unique world, starting from the first 42 articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Adolescent hanging on the wall. An important document that for the first time officially recognizes that even children and adolescents are holders of civil, social, political, cultural and economic rights. Since 1989 all the countries of the world, except for the United States, have ratified this document and are committed to upholding it.
To better stimulate informal learning, the first thing to do, like at home, will be to take off your shoes!
An Open-Space divided into zones and complete of interactive Exhibits, tables for buildings, mechanical and digital installations with a high scientific content to be tested freely, without following a pre-established path. A space where you can experiment with your senses, where every age group, 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 years finds its scope and can browse and discover. Each area deals with topics of different scientific nature such as air, water, light, mechanics, logic and the human body.
An orange sphere 3 meters in diameter and 6 meters high sends to travel more than 150,000 balls throughout the museum! A reference to the Former General Warehouses of Verona, where the museum stands, an essential spot for the city with a pulsating heart: the large refrigerating station. Here the goods travelled continuously and to resume this theme of transport and moving, the balls become the goods, the messages, the objects that can move thanks to tracks, air pipes and gravity falls.
Large blue blocks in soft and long-lasting material, allow children to build a new world every time, exploring the infinite possibilities of imaginary places.
A space that encourages children to play together. It stimulates movement and above all fun: you can create animals, ships, rockets, robots, houses, factories, abstract cities and all that fantasy suggests!
An ad- hoc area for our younger visitors! It is inspired by the Montessori model and the Reggio Children, with visual sensory elements made of chromatism, and tactile ones composed of materials of various textures. There is also a unique space dedicated to reading to encourage pre-reading and pre-graphism as well. Children, together with their parents, can experience the adventure of growth by exploring new ways of learning.
A unique and hilarious fun-educational activity: milk a full-sized cow! First of all, you will have to dress like a real breeder, with an apron and a hat. Interpreting everyday situations of adults is how the child explores reality and his creativity. A game to understand the process that goes from milk milking to cheese preparation.
The first temporary exhibition of the CMV! How does a sound originate? How is it transmitted? What is the difference between sound, music and noise? How many types of musical instruments are there? To find out, you need to follow the DIWO – Do It With Others philosophy: to make the exhibits work, you need to be two people, and many of the tools present must be built directly by the children. You can discover the secrets of sound and learn how to replicate the experience even at home or at school!
A giant wall where, thanks to the principles of pneumatics, children and adults can try to send the balls in various directions, through a system of pipes. Selecting where to release the ball is easy by merely turning the knobs on the installations. With this installation it is also possible to combine science and sport: with classes or groups, it is possible to organize the “capture the flag” game and challenge each other to collect the ball fired in the air and ready to fall by force of gravity.
Gears, Archimedes screws, conveyor belts, pulleys, levers, descents, everything that is present in a factory: a wall made of simple machines that combined give life to a complex machine! What is hiding inside the machines? And inside a factory? Find out by manoeuvring, moving and using this colourful engineering machine!
The transition zone between the temporary exhibition and the Fun Zone consists of a large tunnel … of light! Through cloths of elastic fabric, you can enter a “forest” where each step is illuminated by a unique floor that changes colour depending on the pressure exerted. Curiosity drives you to overcome the fear of going through a dark and unknown place that leads to the ball pool!
Dive into the ball pool and enjoy swimming in an orange sea! The pool is for everyone, children and adults, who can try to walk on the surface with the help of special shoes. Fun is guaranteed in this area!
A vertical tunnel of ropes where children and adults can climb in total safety to reach a height of 3.5 meters! From here you can enjoy an exclusive view of the museum, protected by shatterproof glass, and you can manoeuvre a giant conveyor belt to empty the balls tank and put them in motion inside the museum. To go down? A super slide ends the descent with a dip in the ball pool!
16 meters of tanks with over 40 activities dedicated to the fundamental element for life: water. Here children must wear boots and raincoats to protect themselves from splashing water before entering. A large mural dedicated to the water cycle allows us to understand what happens during the long journey of a drop of water. So many are the activities you can experience firsthand: whirlwinds, balances, communicating vessels, sounds driven by water and much more!
How does light travel? What is it made of? Does it have visible components? How is a shadow made? All these questions are answered in this room where games and science are mixed to stimulating the 5 senses, learning the secrets of light through experimentation and play.
Inside the Interactive Area, there is a unique toilet, exclusively dedicated to children: built for their size so that they can use it in total autonomy. The possibility for children to be autonomous is fundamental because it is a source of recognition, trust and esteem on the part of the parent.
